A3.2. Rectangular Plate with Hollows

Problem Description

A two dimensional plate, subjected to transverse loading is examined (Figure A3.2.1).

Geometry, Properties and Loads

The plate of polygon shape has 20cm thickness and its external boundary is fixed while the

internal boundary is free. Material is concrete C20/25 (Modulus of Elasticity =29GPa and

Poisson ratio 0.2). The plate is subjected to its self-weight (ε

c

=25.0kN/m

3

) plus 2kN/m

2

uniformly distributed load normal to its plane.

Assumptions

During analysis, Kirchhoff theory of plates has been adopted.

Results Comparison

Maximum values of vertical displacements obtained from ScadaPro analysis are presented

in Table A3.2.1 respectively and compared with those obtained from Sap2000 and Abaqus

software. Moreover, in Figures A3.2.2- A3.2.3 contourlines of bending moments Mxx and

Myy are presented.
