A4. Static Analysis of Plate Structures under Inplane Loading (Discs)

A4.1. Wall

Problem Description

A two dimensional disk, subjected to coplanar loading is examined (Figure A4.1.1).

Geometry, Properties and Loads

The plate of dimension 10mx5m has 20cm thickness and is subjected to an inplane

concentrated load of 50kN. Modulus of Elasticity is 29GPa and Poisson ratio ν=0.20. Plate

is fixed along its smaller sides and free along the others.

(800 Shell Finite Elements)

Figure A4.1.1. Disk under inplane loading.

Assumptions

During analysis, theory of discs (plates under inplane loading) has been adopted.

Technical Features in ScadaPro Tested

Plate elements under inplane loading

Fixed boundary conditions

Results Comparison

Maximum values of inplane displacements along load direction obtained from ScadaPro

analysis and stresses at point B (Figure 4.1) are presented in Table A4.1.1 and A4.1.2

respectively and are compared with those obtained from Sap2000 and Abaqus software.

Moreover, in Figures A4.1.2- A4.1.3 contourlines of stresses σxx and σyy are presented.
