VERIFICATION EXAMPLES FOR SCADA Pro

Software Verification Examples for SCADA Pro 58 B3. Analysis & Design of Steel Structures B3.1. Three Dimensional Steel Truss Roof Problem Description A three dimensional steel truss roof subjected to vertical loading is examined (Figure B3.1.1). Geometry, Properties and Loads The cross section of top and bottom flange of main typical trusses is SHS150x10, of diagonals is SHS90x5. The cross section of top and bottom flange of secondary trusses is CHS60.3x4, of diagonals is CHS48.3x4. The cross section of rafters is IPE-160 and of stiff joints is LEQ100x10. Modulus of elasticity of the material is 210GPa and Poisson ratio is 0.30. The class of structural steel is S235. The main trusses are simply supported. The vertical movement of the edge of the rafters is forbidden. Self-weight is taken into account (ε s =78.5kN/m 3 ). Rafters are subjected to permanent distributed vertical load of 1.430kN/m and 0.715kN/m for middle and outside rafters, respectively (Figure B3.1.2.a). Rafters are also subjected to variable distributed vertical load of 1.773kN/m and 0.887kN/m for middle and outside rafters, respectively (Figure B3.1.2.b). Two cases of loading combinations are examined. In the first one (Comb1) the value of the participation factor of all loads is equal to 1.0. In the second case (Comb2) the participation factor of permanent loads is equal to 1.35 while the corresponding one of the variable load is equal to 1.50.
