CHAPTER 10C 'DIMENSIONING' 56 Select graphically by left-clicking on the member to be designated as the Master Member (each connection has only one Master Member). The selected member is automatically highlighted in the list on the left. For this example, the Principal Member is 470. In case there is an associated member (e.g. 1158 of the example) this can be defined either as Associated or as Conjoined All other members of the association are Online Definitions: • Main member : can be any member of the association • Continuous : a member that is a continuation of the Master member without interruption. It is a single member and cannot have dimensions different from the main member. • Connected : is a member that is connected to other members and may have different dimensions from those it is connected to. Therefore, you define the press of all members in the same way. The next step is to set the dimensions of each member. You choose from what list and set the values of b and h. b = the thickness of the member (dimension perpendicular to the screen) h = is the height of the cross-section (dimension at screen level)
